Virtual Connections are the New Normal

What The Beatles can teach us about communication in 2021

I was raised in a house of Beatles fans.

No matter the occasion, my brother and I were always excited to blast one of their many albums, choreograph dances and sing 6-part duets alongside our friends John, Paul, George and my favorite, Ringo.

Working from home this past year has reignited my appreciation for this truly revolutionary band. They charted a new course that changed music forever. And more than that, their music brought people together… unifying a huge fan base of Beatlemaniacs. Whether you are a fan of their music or not, their message created a community that still exists today.

So what do the Beatles have to do with nonprofit fundraising and marketing in 2021?

They’re a reminder of people’s innate desire to connect with others and be part of a community together. The same is true with your organization. Human connection is the virtual force that propels a passionate staff, strengthens partnerships and ignites donor support for your cause.

As digital communication skyrocketed this past year, many of us have grown accustomed to finding these connections online. And now, BDI has a new way to connect service-driven leaders who are all working towards one common goal: to help the hurting and transform lives.

That’s why I’m excited to share about the new BDI Virtual Community. It’s open to you and free to join! It’s a place where you can connect with other leaders in nonprofit fundraising and marketing. This is a unique niche opportunity to network, hear expert insights and glean new learnings that you can take back to your team (and you won’t get any more “reply all” emails, I promise).

Here’s how in 3 simple steps:

  1. Join our virtual community: CLICK HERE to set up your account and password so you can log in.
  2. Sign Up: Click “Sign Up” to create an account and enter your information.
  3. Confirm your email: Follow the instructions to your email to set a new password (if you do not receive an email from BDI Virtual Community, check your spam folder).

Now you’re in! Feel free to post on the Home page, chat with other Members, join Groups and explore BDI’s future Events.

Besides the great connections and conversations that you can have on this platform, BDI is also releasing an Empower Webinar Series accessible for Virtual Community members! Our next webinar will be on May 18 at 11:00 a.m. PDT, featuring BDI’s Senior VP Client Service, Lolly Colombo on “Rebranding 101: Pros, Cons, Considerations.” She will discuss when your organization should consider rebranding…and how to pull it off successfully! Sign up for the community and add this event to your calendar today!

We can’t wait to join you online and grow this unique community of service-driven leaders, together.

Feel free to email me with any questions about BDI’s Virtual Community.
