The Challenge
In 2022, inflation in the US reached a 40-year high of 8%. This economic uncertainty led many donors to cut back on charitable giving… decreasing fundraising revenue and impacting nonprofit organizations across the board.
The Solution
As a test, BDI asked two donor groups for 20% less across 52 clients in two direct mail cultivation appeals. Both appeals featured a meal-based ask.

The Results
Overall, response rates were consistently higher for donors who received the reduced ask.
